What you see – A glass façade building says Swagath Garuda. There’s an entry to Westside store right in the front. Smaller hoardings of other stores inside apart from entry and exit signs, along with security staff at every junction is rest of the scene.

What you get – Swagath Garuda belongs to the same people who own Garuda Mall on Magrath Road. This is perhaps Jayanagar’s first shopping mall – an area whose people either had to go far for a mall experience or go to the local Jayanagar Shopping Complex which is obviously more utilitarian rather than plush.

Most of the mall is occupied by two Tata stores – Westside (clothes, crockery, accessories etc) and Landmark (books). These stores like their other stores are well stocked and since the mall is newer you might just find shorter billing queues. There are a couple of jewelry stores on level 3. One is Dev which specializes is silver jewelry and another is Admire which sells gold plated jewelry in traditional chunky designs. Both of these stores are quite small, but sell pretty looking stuff. There is a Nokia Priority shop. There is also Identiti for your hip western wear and Liberty selling very dressy sarees and kurtis in silk. G K Vale, the photography expert, also has a small store here.

The food court has all kinds of food – South Indian, Chinese, North Indian, fast food along with juices and shakes. We suggest you try the north Indian food at Yellow Chilli – a venture by celebrity chef Sanjeev Kapoor. The burger at Chicinn is also quite nice though the soft drink they give in their combos is too little.

There is Inox Multiplex on level 4 on the mall. There are three screens and they seem to be showing more of local Kannada films than regular Hollywood and Bollywood fare. The ticketing experience is below average, though the theatre is as good as any other multiplex.

Our verdict – Swagath Garuda is still relatively new as compared to its counterparts. So while it has good stores, it could add to the experience. For instance, there are times when you are hunting for exit or entry points because of the set-up. The food court is pretty good, but could get crowded during weekends. We suggest you go here to catch a movie. Please go well in advance even if you have booked online. Landmark is probably another reason why you should go here. The parking space for four wheelers is less.

I find Swagath Grauda very confusing in terms of the set up. For instance, after a mmovie show, the exit point is through the food court and that tends to get very crowded. Still, agree with you guys, go here for Landmark and a late night movie perhaps.
